Graduate Students of the Department of Social Work Successfully Completed Their Seminar Presentations

The 2025–2026 Academic Year Spring Semester Seminar Presentation Program of Tarsus University, Institute of Graduate Education, Department of Social Work was successfully held on June 9, 2026.

Within the scope of the program, master’s students presented their seminar studies on various fields of the social work discipline to academics and participants, contributing to an environment of scientific discussion.

In the first session, Nurcihan Tekeli presented her seminar study titled “An Evaluation of Psychological Awareness and Barriers to Accessing Mental Health Services among University Students from a Social Work Perspective: The Case of Mersin”; Özlem Yaşar presented “An Evaluation of the Socio-Economic Challenges of Single-Parent Women Working at Mersin Metropolitan Municipality within the Framework of the Empowerment Approach”; Niyazi Tekeli presented “An Examination of the Life Satisfaction of Mothers and Healthy Siblings in Families with Children with Intellectual Disabilities from a Social Work Perspective”; and Ahmet Güngör presented “A Literature Review on Xenophobic Attitudes among Healthcare Workers.”

In the second session, Zeliha Aşkın presented her study titled “An Examination of the Challenges Faced by Afghans in Accessing Social Services”; Asena Altay presented “An Evaluation of Gaming Addiction in the Context of School Social Work”; Asiye Berfin Lale presented “Paternal Postpartum Depression in the Context of Perinatal Social Work”; and Gülşen Çıtak presented “The Effects of Parental and Social Worker Experiences on Children in Child Handover and Personal Relationship Processes in Judicial Proceedings: The Case of Tarsus.”

At the end of the presentations, the students received academic feedback on their research topics and had the opportunity to further develop their studies. The seminar program also contributed to creating an environment of scientific sharing and discussion, which is an important component of graduate education.
