Message from the Chair
Dear Students,
Economic and social transformations, wars, international migration, poverty, violence, social inequalities and employment-related problems have increased the number and diversity of disadvantaged groups and, consequently, the need for qualified social workers. Social work is an applied profession and an academic discipline that draws on human rights, social justice and professional ethics to enhance the well-being of individuals, families, groups, organisations, communities and societies.
Through our curriculum and practice-based courses, we aim to provide our students with a strong understanding of social work ethics and the professional skills required for leadership, effective communication, guidance and responsible intervention. Our goal is to educate qualified social workers who can contribute as practitioners, administrators, researchers and planners in a rapidly developing field.
Our educational approach is grounded in responsibility towards all members of society, particularly people and groups in vulnerable circumstances, student-centred learning and an unwavering commitment to high-quality education. I wish all our students a productive, fulfilling and successful university experience.
